My counseling approach is one focused on compassion and holding space, as well as validation of what is while leaving room for the hope of what could be. I believe everyone is doing the best they can with what they have access to at the moment, and our ways of surviving should be honored, while also learning to recognize what is no longer serving you and discovering what something new could provide. The fact that you are here means you have found ways to survive, and that shows immense capability for growth.
Components I can bring into the space as your counselor might include insight, new perspectives, and compassionate challenges as needed, as well as a space of safety, trust, and respect where you are able to share openly and honestly without fear of judgment, and where you feel supported at each point in their growth process. The process of growth can be a challenging and sometimes overwhelming one, but it is also not a process you need to go through alone. Together we can explore and process your lived experiences and discover new ways of living and connecting to yourself and your life.
I aim for my approach to be very individualized, based on what each client might be needing, but I base much of my theoretical approach from an existential therapy perspective. What this means to me is the way I approach the work of therapy comes from a place of making meaning of our experiences, and finding empowerment in our choices. I hope to encourage a deep sense and awareness of your own immense capability, while also providing the support, connection, and compassion that is so necessary along the way.
