Mindfulness-Based Addictions Recovery Group
Support from others who care and understand is critical to maintaining sobriety. And being mindful - present and accepting of whatever is happening in the moment - is PROVEN to be a crucial skill in freeing oneself from compulsive behaviors. This group will teach you how to be mindful, particularly in the face of addictions. Unlike any other recovery group, you will actively learn how to use mindfulness to:
Recognize and manage triggers
Turn towards and tolerate craving without acting
Practice skills to manage the biology of addiction
Understand the role of support groups and make them work FOR YOU!
The facilitator has been treating addictions for 30 years and has worked in all milieus (detox, residential & outpatient). He has a knowledge of 12 step recovery and also facilitated a Refuge Recovery (Buddhist inspired) support group. He has an extensive knowledge of relapse prevention, harm reduction, pharmacology, alternative treatment options, CBT plus other methods of recovery. The format will be curriculum driven with lots of room for questions and discussion.
