Self and Selves in Motion

Have you ever thought to yourself: “Am I good enough?” “I wish I were different.” “Would people still like me if they knew that I have all these quirks and fear and negative thoughts?” As we move around in the world, the way we carry our bodies vividly expresses and communicates our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, values, desires, and preferences - our day to day movements bring us closer or farther away from others. For example, we so often experience kindness and love not just through words, but through a smile, a hug, warm eye contact, an embracing gesture.

Imagine how much more light-hearted and connected we can feel if we understand how to recognize and reciprocate positive non-verbal signals, with both strangers and those close to us. Imagine interacting with more comfort, ease, and freedom in your own body.

In this group, we will practice professionally guided movements designed to:

  • Cultivate a self-image that is more positive and fluid

  • Feel at ease communicating through the body, including through gestures, postures, sensations, shapes, pattered and creative movement

  • Increase self-awareness and self-compassion

No prior movement experience needed; all physical abilities are welcome.
