Yoga for Anxiety Relief
The body, mind, and breath are in constant communication with one another. Sometimes sending signals of danger - 'There is something to worry about! Protect yourself!' Sometimes sending signals of safety - 'All is well, you can relax now.' Knowing where the signals are coming from and how to interrupt them when they do not serve you can enhance your ability to reduce anxiety and increase feelings of ease and relaxation.
Through breathwork and gentle yoga postures linking breath to movement, this group will give you tools to connect to this ongoing conversation and empower you to move from a state of Fight or Flight to Rest and Digest. Participants will come away with a greater understanding of and connection to themselves and practical skills to soothe the anxieties and stresses of everyday life. As with any new skills, these will grow stronger over time and with practice outside of group.
Groups will include light discussion to gain insight and understanding of anxiety and the skills presented, breathwork, a balance of gentle movement and stillness, and will end with a mindfulness-based body scan to increase the connection between body, mind, and breath.
